The 50 target sporting clay tournament used the Lewis Class System for all scoring, placing the top third of the teams (by score) in "Class I," the next third in "Class II" and the final third in "Class III." The top finishing team in each class was issued individual prizes, including a shotgun for each team member. Wild clay awards and team awards for top Flush team were also given.
In conjunction with the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, beneficiaries of the 2008 Memorial Shootout include the Peaceable Kingdom Retreat for Children, Camp John Marc and St. Olaf Church in Bosque County, Texas. These camps serve children with special needs and chronic illnesses by making year-round camping experiences possible. They provide cooperative programming with health organizations, community volunteers and pediatric hospitals dedicated to serving these children.
Elizabeth left a legacy of love, faith and caring in the lives of children and families in need.
